Throughout his 20 years in the health and safety field, Brett has been committed to helping make workplaces safe, healthy and rewarding environments to New Zealanders. His oversight of many of New Zealand’s most serious and complex industrial accident investigations has given him a deep appreciation of the challenges faced by high-risk industries.
In 2010, Brett headed the investigation into the Pike River mining disaster and in later went on to establish and lead WorkSafe New Zealand’s High Hazard Unit. In his role as General Manager of Operations, Brett was the senior operational executive on the governance group that oversaw the development of the 2015 Health and Safety at Work Act
Since 2018 Brett has been the Chief Executive of Site Safe NZ, the country’s largest membership health and safety organisation.
Brett brings a deep practical understanding of the challenges of effective health and safety management, both at system and human performance levels.
